Period 8 has participated in seven French Class League (LCF) competitions, missing only the 2018-2019 school year competition. At Las Vegas High School, Period 8 is the fourth and final class on B days in the A-B block schedule cycle. Period 8 won the inaugural playoff competition of Mr. Bracken's career, then called the ClassDoJo Playoffs, competing under the name "Bloc 8" at State College Area High School in 2017.

Period 8 is the most successful regular-season class regarding points earned. As of January 2025, they have totaled 5,467 points, the best of any class period, despite not having earned any points in the 2018-19 school year.

2017 ClassDojo Championship

The 2017 ClassDojo Challenge was the initial edition of what would become the Goeller Cup Playoffs, created during Mr. Bracken's student teaching semester in State College Area School District with his mentor teacher, Mrs. Brogan Goeller, for whom the championship was named. The idea came from Mrs. Goeller's already-existing use of ClassDoJo and classroom rewards system, which Mr. Bracken decided to tweak as a way of engaging students. The plan was to have a three-week competition followed by a three-round playoffs system to get students hyped about learning.

Period 8 finished the first round of bi-weekly point challenges in 3rd place with 198 points. They won the second challenge with 370 points and moved into first place int the standings. They followed it up with a win again in the third challenge by earning 491 points. They earned the top seed of the playoffs with 2 wins and 1,059 points.

In the six-class playoff format, Period 8 earned an automatic berth into the semi-final round. The 2017 Playoffs were the only playoffs with bracket conferences (high school conference versus middle school conference). The first opponent for Period 8 was Period 7 (called, at the time, Bloc 4), the only other high-school-level class in the competition. Period 8 won by a score of 4-1 to advance to the 2017 ClassDoJo Final where they would meet the ultimate underdogs, sixth-ranked Period 3.

In the Final, Period 8 defeated Period 3 by a score of 3-2 to become the first-ever French Class Champions. Despite not having been awarded the Goeller Cup, Period 8's 2017 victory in the tournament is considered equally valid regarding the history and records, as it was the first iteration of the tournament.
