Period 5 has participated in seven of eight French Class League (LCF) competitions, missing only the inaugural edition in 2017. In 2023-2024, Period 5 was scored congruently with Period 6 as both classes were Student Council. The two classes share the statistics for the 2024 season. At Las Vegas High School, Period 5 is the third class on A days in the A-B block schedule cycle. Period 5 has never won the Goeller Cup but competed in the 2019 Goeller Cup Finals, losing by a score of 2-3 to Period 1.

Period 5 is the only class period to have played a playoff series against a non-traditional class when they faced the online section of French 3 through Nevada Learning Academy (NVLA) in the first round of the 2023 Goeller Cup Playoffs. In 2025, NVLA's data and scoring was added to Period 6, retroactively making 2023 the first playoff meeting between Periods 5 and 6. During the 2023-2024 school year, Period 5 was combined with Period 6 in the competition, with both class periods earning points and records as Student Council.

The inspiration for the logo used at Las Vegas High School comes from one of the most iconic hotel signs in Las Vegas' history: the Stardust Resort and Casino. Despite being demolished in 2006, the sign is an iconic image of Las Vegas, serving as a continued source of inspiration for designs. Initially, two different hotel-casinos were used for inspiration of the class logo in 2024-2025: Sam's Town and Sassy Sally's. Sam's Town is the main hotel-casino of the east side of the Las Vegas Valley, where Las Vegas High School is located. Additionally, the now-defunct Sassy Sally's Hotel (1981-1999) was located on Fremont Street.
