2024 Goeller Cup Champions
Period 7 has participated in seven French Class League (LCF) competitions and has scored data in all eight seasons. The first Period 7 season was in 2017 and most recently was in 2025. During the 2020 school year, Mr. Bracken did not have a 7th period class but due to a combined Period 5 French level III-IV class, period 7 earned data as the home for the section of French IV students. Period 7 is only one of three classes that have competed in every season, the others being Periods 3 & 4. Currently, at Las Vegas High School, Period 7 is the fourth and final class on A days in the A-B block schedule cycle. In 2025, Period 7 is the defending Goeller Cup Champion class period. As of February 1, 2025, Period 7 is the leading class in the 2025 French Class League standings.
The 2024 class at Las Vegas High School won the regular season and the Goeller Cup. In the 2024-2025 school year, Period 7 won the first-ever edition of the French Class Olympic Games, completing a trifecta of French class victories in 2024 (Regular Season, Goeller Cup, Olympics).
Period 7 is the only class period to have gone by a different number: during the inaugural playoffs in 2017 they were called Bloc 4 and in 2020, the French 4 Honors class, earned points counting as Period 7 under the name Period 5A.
The 2023-2024 was the first school year where the regular season competitions involved weekly head-to-head matchups. Through the first five weeks of the competition, The Strat had a record of 2-2-1, good for 5 points, and ranked 4th in the standings. They doubled their record to 4-4-2 through the second 5 weeks to have a season total of 10 points through 10 weeks. The Strat won their final 6 matchups from weeks 10-15 to improve to a record of 9-4-2 after the regular season. Their 20 points were tied for first place with Period 2 Flamingo, who had a record of 8-2-4. Because the Strat had more overall wins, they were awarded the regular season championship, the first-overall rank in the playoffs, and a first-round bye.
Period 7's first series of the 2024 Goeller Cup Playoffs was against Period 8 Sahara in the Semi-Final round. Sahara led the series after the first cycle of classes, but the Strat rebounded on the second cycle and never looked back, cruising to a 4-1 series victory to advance to the 2024 Goeller Cup Finals.
In the final round, the Strat would meet the defending Goeller Cup Champion class, Period 2, Flamingo. Despite their class status as defending champions, it was, in reality, Period 7 who were the defending champions, as seven students enrolled in Period 7 in 2024 were in the championship-winning period 2 class in 2023. A record-setting final series that saw the Strat maintain a lead at the conclusion of every day-cycle. Thanks to their continued dedication and commitment, Period 7 The Strat won the Goeller Cup for the first time and produced the first ever two-time Goeller Cup Champions.
For the first semester of the 2024-2025 school year, all classes competed in the French Class Olympics in honor of the 2024 Paris Games. Classes were able to earn medals for in-class performance and class-vs-class activities. The scoring was by gold medals, then silver and bronze, with gold medals earning 2 points in the class standings, silver earning 1 point, and bronze at 0. At the end of the first semester, Period 7 had the most gold medals, having earned 10 gold, 8 silver, and 6 bronze for a total of 28 points, one ahead of Period 3. Subsequently, at the end of the semester, Period 7 was crowned French Class Olympic Champions. The title does not come with any extra accolades aside from the title.
