Las Vegas, NV -- The 2026–2027 school year marks the 10th year of Mr. Bracken’s teaching career. It also marks his fifth year at Las Vegas High School, bringing his tenure there even with his first teaching position at Millbrook High School in northwestern Virginia.
Over the past nine years, Mr. Bracken’s career has been filled with meaningful moments in teaching and learning. At both schools, he helped expand French programs into multi-year tracks with consistently strong student enrollment, while building a reputation for strong student rapport and engaging classroom experiences.
Beyond the French classroom, Mr. Bracken has built an extensive record of extracurricular leadership. During his five years at Millbrook, he led the school’s drama program and also served as GSA advisor, forensics coach, and building representative for the local education association. His third year of teaching was abruptly interrupted in March 2020 by the coronavirus pandemic, which continued to shape his fourth year as his district became the largest in Virginia to return to in-person learning that fall. During that time, Mr. Bracken emerged as a leader in hybrid-style instruction and continued to serve as a model for incorporating technology into classroom learning.
After relocating to Las Vegas in 2022, Mr. Bracken continued his commitment to student success, school involvement, and innovation. During his second year at Las Vegas High School, he served as Student Council advisor, helping organize, plan, and execute major campus-wide events. In his third year, he became an even more prominent teacher leader on campus, joining the education association’s building leadership team and taking on responsibility for managing content on the school’s virtual information display screens.
In 2025, Mr. Bracken’s technology leadership remained at the forefront of his work. He served as a mentor teacher, supported staff with online tools and platforms, and became the school’s social media manager. He also presented staff development sessions on teaching English as a second language and parent communication. In recognition of his work, he was named Teacher of the Month in August 2025.
