During the summer of 2022, the Goeller Cup relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada as Mr. Bracken began his tenure at Las Vegas High School. The Goeller Cup trophy itself was also redesigned and rebuilt into a larger, sturdier version. Although the new trophy retained the same name as its predecessor, the original Goeller Cup remained at Millbrook High School.
No competition was held during the first semester as Mr. Bracken adjusted to a new school environment and instructional systems. The intention had been to launch the challenge in January with several regular-season contests leading into the Goeller Cup Playoffs. Ultimately, the finalized schedule featured three month-long *Défi ClassDojo* competitions followed by the Goeller Cup Playoffs beginning in April. Each playoff round consisted of four class periods, with the Final concluding during the week preceding final examinations.
In addition to six in-person classes at Las Vegas High School, Mr. Bracken also taught a virtual section of French III through the Nevada Learning Academy (NVLA). Consistent with Goeller Cup tradition, any class taught by Mr. Bracken remained eligible to qualify for postseason competition.
The 2022–2023 team identities drew inspiration from mythical creatures and fairy tales, themes commonly explored in French II coursework. Beginning this season, team logos incorporated championship stars to recognize previous Goeller Cup victories. At the start of the school year, Périodes 1, 3, and 8 were the only classes with championship histories and therefore the only teams to display gold stars within their logos.

The first month of the Défi ClassDoJo competition wasn't held until January of 2023. Période 2 (Les Loups-garous) earned their first victory and the first ClassDoJo victory ever at Las Vegas High School. They earned 246 points, a 35-point lead over the second-place class, Période 8 (Les Vampires). Période 2 (The Werewolves, in English) was a slightly smaller class than the other French I classes this school year but they made up for it with their class personality. Despite occasional struggles with punctuality, the class consistently demonstrated strong engagement and work completion throughout the competition. All of that played into their first-place victory in the January Competition of Défi ClassDoJo at Las Vegas High School.

The February challenge ended up being a very close contest with the winning class maintaining a one-point advantage! Période 5 was the only class this school year of a higher-level French class (French II) and they defeated last month's winners: Période 2. Despite being the smallest class in the field, Période 5 defeated classes with enrollments 10 to 15 students larger, highlighting the group's exceptional engagement and consistency.

During the month of March, the final days of the contest came down primarily to two classes battling together for their first victory in their last opportunity before the Playoffs. However, all six LVHS classes remained extremely close to one another in this round with first to sixth place only being separated by 28 points. Période 3 snagged the last win of the Défi ClassDojo season, edging out Période 8 by just three points. The Licornes were a unique class that started the year out well and then got quiet through the mid-part of the season. After a promising start to the year followed by a quieter middle stretch, Les Licornes regained momentum during the final regular-season contest, capturing their first victory at precisely the right moment.

Période 2 won the inaugural regular season Défi ClassDojo at Las Vegas High School, earning 635 points over the three months of the competition. They earned the first rank in the Goeller Cup Playoffs and therefore advance automatically to the semi-final round.
All of the first-round matchups ended up with A-Day classes against A-Day classes and all B-Day classes against B-Day classes, effectively creating unofficial "A-Day" and "B-Day" brackets. Période 5 (Les Cinq-lopes) ranked second and matched up with the French III class from NVLA (Les Virtuels), the only class not based at Las Vegas High School. Période 3 (Les Licornes) ranked third and met Période 7 (Les Sirènes) while fourth-ranked Période 8 (Les Vampires) faced off against Période 4 (Les Lutins). After each class's first day of competition, the higher-seeded teams all held a series lead in the first round.
Each series in this round featured one category with a record-low setting score in one of the five categories.
Période 5 became the first class to win their way into the Semi-Finals by eliminating NVLA-French III by a score of 4-1. Période 5 managed to hold a lead for the entire round and alternated between having a 4-1 or 5-0 series lead after every class. The only points category that they lost was average points per student, which NVLA won with 6.25 points to Période 5's 4.87 points. Période 5 earned 112 total points en route to victories in positive percentage, French usage percentage, and highest-earning student.
This series featured the record low score (at the time of the series) in the overall points category. NVLA's 50 points in round 1 is the lowest-ever earned points in a Goeller Cup Playoff series.

Période 3 advanced to the Semi-Finals after defeating Période 7 by a score of 3-2. Période 3 held a 4-1 series lead through the first three days but on the final day of competition, Période 7 was able to sneak past them in total points (154-150). Période 7 also defeated Période 3 in French points percentage. Période 3 won the remaining categories, average point per student, positive point percentage, and highest student. This series featured a record-low score (at the time of the series): average point per student category with Période 7 scoring a mere 3.76 pps.
Période 3 entered the playoffs as the defending Goeller Cup champion class from the 2021–2022 season at Millbrook High School. They advanced to meet Période 5 in the Goeller Cup Semi-Finals.

Période 4 defeated Période 8 on a tie-break to advance to the Semi-Final round earning a 3-2 score in round one. Période 8 had led this series at the end of the first 3 days of competition by a 4-1 score but on the last day failed to maintain their lead. Période 8 managed to stay ahead in average points per student and French point percentage only. Période 4 won outright in the highest student and positive point percentage categories. This series also featured the record low score (at the time of the series) in the positive point percentage with Période 8 earning only a 75% positive score.
Both classes ended up tied in overall points with 151. The tie-break rules, updated for this school year, indicated that a tie-break in this category would be determined by participation point percentage. On the tiebreak, Période 4 prevailed with a participation rate of 14.3% compared to Période 8's 12.3%, earning the series victory and advancing to face top-seeded Période 2.

The 2023 Final Four featured the "A Day" and "B Day" finalists with odd-numbered classes (3 vs. 5) and even-numbered classes (2 vs. 4) squaring off for a spot in the Goeller Cup Finals.
Période 2 advanced automatically to the Semi-Final round thanks to ranking first in the standings. Their first opponent in the competition was Période 4 who advanced to the Semi-Finals after a tie-breaking series with Période 8. Période 2 eliminated Période 4 on a tie-break by a score of 3-2.
After two class days of competition, this series was shaping up to be one of the closest in Goeller Cup Playoff history. Période 2 held a 3-2 series lead at the halfway point but in three of the five categories both classes were within a point of each other: overall points (97-96, Per.2), average point per student (2.48-2.40, Per.2), and highest earning student (11-10, Per.4).
At the end of the third day of competition, Période 4 had gained the upper hand in the series, having passed Période 2 in overall points.
By the end of the series, Période 4 would maintain an advantage in highest-earning student at 23 points (vs. 20) and French-speaking percentage with 26.99% (vs. 26.79%). Période 2 held steady on positive point percentage and scored 91.70% positivity, the highest mark in this category to this point in the 2023 playoffs. Their point-per-student average also beat out Période 4.
Both classes ended up tied with 241 total points and a tie-break would be required to determine the winner, similar to Période 4's first-round matchup. The tie-break rules, updated for this school year, indicated that a tie-break in this category would be determined by participation point percentage. Remarkably, both classes had earned 13 points for participating but when scored from their positive-earned points, Période 2 held the advantage with 4.91% versus 4.50% for Période 4. Période 2 advanced to the 2023 Goeller Cup Finals with a 3-2 series victory.

Période 5, the only French II class of this school year, met Période 3 in the Semi-Finals, with Période 3 eventually earning the series victory.
Through two classes, Période 5 held a series lead of 4-1 after Période 3 had an abysmal second day of competition. Période 5 was also aided in the French usage percentage category by the fact that they had completed a speaking assessment on the first day of the round, comprising nearly half of their points through the first two days.
With just one class to play, Période 5 maintained their lead, though things had tightened up slightly. On the final day, Période 3 outscored Période 5 in total points with enough differential to pass the French II class in this category and maintain their edge in the highest student category. Période 3 ended up with 147 total points and had 19 points for the highest-earning student categories, winning both of those outright. Période 5 earned victories in average points per student and in positivity percentage, giving them victories in these two categories.
The deciding factor became French usage percentage. Rounded to two decimal places, both classes finished at 24.31%. When expanded to the thousandth decimal place, Période 3 prevailed by just 0.003 percentage points, establishing a new record for the narrowest margin in Goeller Cup history.

Period 2 "Loups-Garous" versus Period 3 "Les Licornes"
Période 3 advanced to the final for the second consecutive year and for the first time at Las Vegas High School. It's the third time in this competition that Période 3 has made it to the final round. Période 3 is the only class period to advance to the final round in all three schools where Mr. Bracken has completed this competition. Période 3 became the first class period in Goeller Cup history to reach the Finals in consecutive completed seasons (however it is worthy of noting that this was the first true opportunity as it was the first year with back-to-back playoffs). Période 3 entered as the third-ranked class and defeated Période 7 in the first round (3-2) then Période 5 on a tie-breaker (3-2) in the semi-finals to advance to the finals.
Période 2 advanced to the final as the top-seeded class in the playoffs and advanced automatically to the semi-final round. They punched their ticket to the finals having defeated their only opponent, Période 4, in the semi-final round on a tie-break. This is the first time in Goeller Cup history that a 2nd period class played in the Finals.
After one class day each, Période 2 had a commanding 5-0 series lead and, in overall points, led by over 75 points. Période 3 had their roughest day of competition on their first class day of the finals which was what allowed Période 2 to get an early jump. At the start of the second class day of competition, Mr. Bracken was absent for a family illness matter. Both classes were still able to earn points based on the work that they completed online. Période 2 dramatically outscored Période 3 on this day earning about nine times as many points due to the number of students who completed the sub work for that day. After three class days of competition, Période 3 had pulled the series to a 4-1 deficit and, after their last day, managed to take a 3-2 series lead. However, because they had come from so far behind, Période 2 only needed a net gain of 5 points to secure the championship. Période 3 had taken the lead in the series based on the average point per student category and to regain the lead, Période 2 needed only to finish with 160 total points; they entered their final class day with 155.
In the end, Période 2 managed to earn the 3-2 series victory becoming the first-ever Goeller Cup Champions of Las Vegas High School. The three categories where they were victorious were in overall points, average points per student, and positive point percentage. Période 3 managed to set a new record in the French-speaking percentage category, edging out Période 2 with 40.6%. The previous record was set during the 2022 Goeller Cup Playoffs at Millbrook High School when 7th Period earned 36.5%. Période 3 also maintained an advantage in the highest-earning student category.

In Memoriam
In March 2024, Thomas Quintero Jr., a member of the 2023 championship-winning Période 2 class, passed away. Although Thomas attended class infrequently, he was remembered by those who knew him as a quiet and kind presence within the classroom community. His name continues to hang in Mr. Bracken's classroom alongside those of his classmates from the 2023 championship team, ensuring that his place in Goeller Cup history endures.
